LouisvilleCatholicSports.com honors area's top players

The Sentry Insurance All-Catholic Teams represent the best of the best when it comes to student-athletes in the Louisville area. Players are selected based on nominaitons and feedback from local coaches and LouisvilleCatholicSports.com staff.

The 2010 Kentucky high school volleyball season was dominated by Louisville area teams, which culminated with an all-Catholic state championship match between Assumption High School and Mercy Academy – two squads that were ranked nationally all season.

To honor the young women who were instrumental in state, regional, and district championship victories for their respective schools, LouisvilleCatholicSports.com has compiled the inaugural All-Catholic Vollyeball Team, which is actually made up of two, 10-player First and Second Teams, as well as a five-player Honorable Mention list.

The athletes below exhibited excellent play throughout the season, and truly represented the spirit of competition, sportsmanship, and Catholic values.

First Team

Jeni Houser, Assumption High School

- Miss Volleyball 2010; Region 7 Player of the Year; state tournament MVP; AVCA Under Armour All-American First Team

Jewell Dobson, Mercy Academy

- Led team in blocks (258); 3rd on team in kills (345); All-State Tournament Team

Lynsey Hazelwood, Holy Cross High School

- Region 6 Player of the Year

Megan Lipski, Sacred Heart Academy

- Second Team All-State

Ashley Ricks, Providence High School (IN)

- 478 kills and 48 blocks; ICGSA All-State

Ally Wilbourn, Mercy Academy

- Led team in kills (444) and hitting percentage (.454)

Courtney Robison, Assumption High School

- All-State Tournament Team member; team captain; First Team All-State

Monica McGreal, Sacred Heart Academy

- All-Region 6 Tournament Team

Jackie Napper, Assumption High School

- First Team All-State; All-State Tournament Team; AVCA Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention

Natalie Keck, Mercy Academy

- Led team in digs (562) and passing percentage (2.35%)
