Brink Named KY Miss Cross Country
Sacred Heart senior runs away with top award
Sacred Heart Academy senior Emma Brink was the runaway choice for Kentucky Miss Cross Country 2010, as the standout Valkyrie and future University of North Carolina Tar Heel earned the sport's top honor on Monday.
Considered one of the best runners in state history, Brink was also the Class AAA Runner of the Year, senior runner of the year, Region 4 Runner of the Year, and captured her fourth straight individual XC state championship in Lexington, where she set a new Class AAA state record with a time of 18:27.71 (18 seconds faster than her junior season time). Brink has had four consecutive undefeated seasons within the state of Kentucky and has earned ten overall individual state titles.
These recent honors come on the heels of an already impressive resume for Brink:
- Nine-time individual state champion (which includes three consecutive cross country titles and six track titles)
- Owns one team state cross country title (2009)
- Holds three state records in cross country (1600m and 800m)
- Two-time Gatorade Kentucky Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year
- Two-time Gatorade Kentucky Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year
- Two-time KHSAA Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year (Miss Track and Field)
- Has been named a Nike All-American
