Sixteen solid players make up this year's teams

The All-Catholic Teams include and recognize student-athletes who played at the top level during the regular and postseasons within their sport. Players are selected based on nominaitons and feedback from local coaches and staff that covered field hockey during the 2011 season.

With Mercy Academy, Assumption High School and Sacred Heart Academy all reaching the 2011 "final four," and Presentation Academy making the state tournament bracket, it's safe to say that this year's field hockey season was well represented with and by area Catholic schools and programs.

The Valkyries ultimately reached the title game before falling to DuPont Manual 2-1 and settling for state runner-up, but not before SHA, the Rockets, the Jaguars, the Toppers and even Holy Cross could leave an imprint on another successful "stick season" in Louisville.

To recognize those student-athletes who excelled in the sport during the past several months, has once again compiled the All-Catholic Field Hockey Team which is made up (below) of two eight-person squads. Sacred Heart's Kristin Matula is the only player on this year's ACT who was also a member of the 2010 All-Catholic Field Hockey Team.
