Assumption's lone senior takes on the Questions

Each week, LouisvilleCatholicSports.com will be getting to know a new student-athlete from the area by asking him/her a series of 20 key questions - some in-depth, some lighthearted - that will provide insight into the thoughts and personalities of the boys and girls who are doing great things on and off the local courts, fields, tracks, and courses. Below are the "20 Key Questions," brought to you by Key Financial Mortgage LLC.

With a coaching change mid-season and a cast of young, up-and-coming players on the Assumption High School basketball team, lone senior Maggie Hartlage has been the anchor for the Rockets and the integral factor during what some would call a "transitional" season for AHS.

On the court, Hartlage is the team's varsity captain and co-leader in scoring with 10.2 points per game and even dropped a career-high 24 points against Holy Cross back on Dec. 4. She has guided Assumption to a 12-10 record against a grueling schedule, including three wins in the Republic Bank Classic during the holidays and a thrilling comeback win over Ballard during the opening round of the Louisville Invitational Tournament.

She was also named to the Floyd Central Lady Highlander Classicl All-Tournament Team at the end of December.

For her efforts, Hartlage is now weighing the option of playing basketball at the next level and is considering Centre College and Transylvania University.

Hartlage, the daughter of Julie and Jeff, also maintains a 3.7 GPA in the classroom and participates within the Beta Club and Advancement Council.

The Rockets have five regular season games left on its schedule and then will begin postseason play on Feb. 23, as Assumption will take on the winner of Whitefield Academy and Atherton in the 27th District semifinals. A win in that game will put AHS in the title game and guarantee Hartlage & Co. a spot in the Region 7 Tournament.

Before all of that occurs, however, Hartlage took the time to participate in the LouisvilleCatholicSports.com and Key Financial Mortgage "20 Key Questions." Her answers are below.
