"20 Questions" With Morgan Foley
Assumption High School junior takes on the Questions
Each week, LouisvilleCatholicSports.com will be getting to know a new student-athlete from the area by asking him/her a series of 20 key questions - some in-depth, some lighthearted - that will provide insight into the thoughts and personalities of the boys and girls who are doing great things on and off the local courts, fields, tracks, and courses. Below are the "20 Key Questions," brought to you by Key Financial Mortgage LLC.
The Assumption High School softball team hasn't been to the state tournament since 1998 and has fallen just short in its fair share of regional tournaments and 7th Region championship games.
But if there is a player that can lead the Rockets back into the most coveted section of the Kentucky softball postseason, it's junior Morgan Foley.
With a pair of home runs at the plate already this season, the 5-foot-10 Foley has stood taller and shined even brighter on the pitching mound. She's tossed five shutouts, threw a no-hitter against Fern Creek, accumulated an 8-1 pitching record, and has AHS at 9-2 with a chance to go 2-0 against 26th District competition on Thursday against Whitefield Academy.
Foley, who became a key offensive weapon for the Assumption basketball down the stretch in February and March, is undecided when it comes to her college plans, but would ideally like to find a school that would allow her to continue playing both basketball and softball.
She maintains a 3.62 GPA in the classroom, is one of three children, and attended St. Bernard Elementary.
Foley recently took time out of her day to answer the LouisvilleCatholicSports.com "20 Questions," and her answers are below.
1. What is your favorite pump up music on game day?
"Lose Yourself" and "Till I Collapse" by Eminem
2. What is your ideal meal/snack before a game?
I usually eat a bowl of Lucky Charms before games.
3. Which Assumption sport do you enjoying playing more: basketball or softball? Why?
This has always been the hardest question for me to answer my whole life. I don't have an answer to this because I enjoy them both. I love being able to transition between two sports and be with two different teams throughout the year. I have a passion for both basketball and softball and equally enjoy them both.
4. Which athlete do you look up to on a college/professional level?
Angel McCoughtry because she has a very strong work ethic and she helped to put Louisville women's basketball on the map.
5. What is your favorite movie quote?
I have sooo many! I love to quote movies! If i narrowed it down it would prolly be this one from the movie Any Given Sunday: "Inch by inch, play by play, 'til we’re finished."
6. How does your faith impact your approach to sports?
My faith helps to keep me grounded and level headed, it also gives me the courage and strength to never give up.
7. What keeps you motivated?
My family and my love for the game. I wouldn't be anywhere near the athlete I am today without my family. They help me get back up after I fall and they always push me to do my best and never let up in anything that I do. My love for the game keeps me motivated because sports are my life and I wouldn't want to have it any other way.
8. All time favorite board game?
Chutes and Ladders.
9. Droid, iPhone, or Blackberry?
I LOVE my iPhone
10. Favorite Facebook function?
I'd have to say just being able to upload pictures and tag people in them.
11. What is your favorite reality TV show?
Definitely Jersey Shore. Jersday Thursday's!
12. What is your favorite pro team?
I don't watch pro sports, but my Dad tried to convince me to be a Dallas Cowboys fan and my brother tried to get me to cheer for the Colts. So basically I am in a house divided.

I am a very talkative person and can carry on a conversation with anyone. I also like to see myself as a good leader.

Anytime I am playing sports or dinner time with my family when we all take time to sit down, eat together, and talk about our day.
16. What is your nickname and how did you get it?
I don't really have a set nickname that everyone calls me, but I usually just get called "Foley."
17. Where is your favorite place to volunteer/provide community service?
Habitat for Humanity because everyone there is so friendly and you get to build houses for people who need a home to stay in.
18. What is one hidden talent that you possess?
I can play the piano pretty well. I took lessons from kindergarden through eighth grade.
19. If time machines were real and you could only travel in one direction - forward or backward - which would you choose and why?
I would want to travel forwards to be able to see how technology advances and to be able to see what I will be doing in my life years from now.
20. What is your proudest athletic moment?
