St. Xavier senior takes on the Questions

Each week, LouisvilleCatholicSports.com will be getting to know a new student-athlete from the area by asking him/her a series of 20 questions - some in-depth, some lighthearted - that will provide insight into the thoughts and personalities of the boys and girls who are doing great things on and off the local courts, fields, tracks, and courses.

As a junior, St. Xavier High School's Neil Chad Connor Henley snuck up on opposing soccer teams as an unknown and managed to have a profound impact on the success of the Tigers, while simultaneously flying under the proverbial radar.

This season, as St. X has moved to No. 2 in the state high school boys soccer rankings, and No. 26 in the ESPN High School national rankings, Henley isn't surprising anyone. His offensive prowess and athleticism definitely has the attention of players and coaches, as Henley continues to be a force near the goal for a Tigers team has has won 12 straight games and 13 of 15 overall.

Henley, who was referred to as "The Real Deal" by public address announcer and St. X Assistant Athletic Director Peter DeZarn during a game last week, has scored 12 goals and notced six assists during nine games played this season. And his abilities have even landed him a very real scholarship, as the six-foot-one Henley will attend Xavier University next season.

The son of Doug and Connie Henley, Neil is one of four children, carries a 3.6 GPA at St. X, enjoys living in the moment and says that soccer "controls his life."

Henley and the Tigers have two games left on its schedule - Saturday (St. Henry) and Monday (Atherton) - before the annual rivalry game against Trinity on Sept. 28, which will be Henley's last of his career.
