Kayla tackles the questions this week

Bio: I have played soccer and basketball since I was three years old and have been a member of varsity basketball and varsity soccer for four years at Mercy, captain for both teams this year. I am a member of the National Honor Society, The National Society of High School Scholars and a Peer Leader.

1. What is your proudest athletic moment? Being a member of the Mercy Academy Basketball team that won the Kentucky State Basketball Championship when I was a freshman.

2.  What is your ideal meal/snack before a game? Fruit or nothing at all.

3. If you were trying out for American Idol, what would be your "go to" song? “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood.

4. Which athlete do you look up to on a college/professional level? Why? Abbie Wambach for soccer and Skylar Diggins for basketball because they’re both great players and leaders. They also play the same positions that I play in both sports.

5. What is your favorite movie quote? “WHERE IS MY SUPER SUIT!” from The Incredibles.

6. How does your faith impact your approach to sports? God makes everything possible – without Him, I couldn’t play sports as well as I do.

7. What is your favorite cartoon character? Road Runner because it was my Grandfather’s favorite.

8. All time favorite board game? Monopoly

9. Droid, iPhone, or Blackberry? Favorite app?  Blackberry and I don’t have a favorite app.

10. What is your favorite local (non chain) restaurant? La Carretta because my family loves going there!

11. What is your favorite reality TV show? Jersey Shore

12. What is your greatest fear?  Death because I fear the unknown.

13. What is your best quality/characteristic? Consider myself to be very coachable – I listen and try my best to put my coach’s words into action.  I’ve also been told that I have great work ethic when it comes to sports.

14. Favorite junk/comfort food? Ice Cream

15. What is your favorite hour of the day? Why? 11:00 because it’s bed time!

16. What is your nickname and how did you get it? Special “K” – a friend’s father gave it to me after seeing me play basketball in grade school.  I’m also called “Ralph” by another friend’s father and I can’t really tell you why he calls me that but it goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back!

17. Where is your favorite place to volunteer/provide community service? Americana where I tutor students after school for senior service.

18. What is one hidden talent that you possess?  My fastest time for running a mile is 6:12.

19. If time machines were real, and you could choose just one - to travel forward or backward - which would you select and why? Backward because I would like to see how basketball and soccer have changed over the years and I would like to have met my maternal Grandfather who passed away before I was born.

20. If you could pick one person, dead or alive, and ask them just one question that they had to answer honestly, who would you pick and what would you ask? My Grandfather who passed away before I was born and I wouldn’t ask him just one question, I’d have many questions because I never knew him.
