Ellie tackles the questions this week

Each week, LouisvilleCatholicSports.com will be getting to know a new student-athlete from the area by asking him/her a series of 20 questions that will provide insight into the thoughts and personalities of the boys and girls who are doing great things on and off the local courts, fields, tracks, and courses. 1. What is your proudest athletic moment? I completed my first mini marathon when I was a sophomore. Crossing the finish line with one of my best friends was the best feeling ever. I never thought I could do something like that, so it was such a great accomplishment and I was so proud of myself.

2. What is your ideal meal/snack before a game? A lot of times I’m so nervous before a race that I don’t even want to eat, but I know I have to. I usually make myself eat some toast or a bagel with peanut butter. Those aren’t as likely to come back up

3. If you were trying out for American Idol, what would be your "go to" song? Oh goodness, well I’m not a very good singer, so I don’t think I could sing any song very well. But if I had to choose, I would pick Wanted by Hunter Hayes because I absolutely love that song.

4. Which athlete do you look up to on a college/professional level? Why? Dick Hoyt amazes me. He does triathlons with his disabled son and I think that is completely inspiring. I could never do a triathlon, much less with an extra body in tow!

5. What is your favorite movie quote? “I Took a hard, hard violent fall. Kinda pinballed down. Hit a lot of railings. Broke a lotta crap. I didn't...I'm not gonna say I survived. I say I thrived.” –Megan on Bridesmaids. That is the funniest movie I have ever seen and it always makes me laugh when I’m in a bad mood.

6. How does your faith impact your approach to sports? Before every meet, our team says a Hail Mary together. This helps me focus and take a deep breath. I usually say a personal prayer before the race starts, just asking God to help me do my best. And not to collapse.

7. What is your favorite cartoon character? I thoroughly enjoy Phinneas and Ferb on Disney channel. Their show is comical.

8. All time favorite board game? I’m going to have to go with Scatergories. It is so fun!

9. Droid, iPhone, or Blackberry? Favorite app? Team iPhone for sure. I really like instagram because I like making my pictures look cool.

10. What is your favorite local (non chain) restaurant? Hik-o-amon! It’s a Japanese sushi place in Westport Village. I love sushi so I really enjoy going there.

11. What is your favorite reality TV show? Well I watch a lot of reality tv, but I think my FAVORITE show is Bachelor/Bachelor Pad. I’ll admit it’s trashy sometimes, but it is true entertainment and extremely dramatic. Gotta love it.

12. What is your greatest fear? I am terrified of growing up and marrying a murderer. I always see those shows on 20/20 where a husband goes crazy and kills his wife and kid. That freaks me out.

13. What is your best quality/characteristic? I’m really dedicated. When I set my mind on something, I refuse to give up until I get there. I don’t give up easily on things I care about.

14. Favorite junk/comfort food? Panera! Oh my goodness, that can turn my mood around in an instant. I especially like their delicious macaroni.

15. What is your favorite hour of the day? Why? My favorite hour of the day is 9 o’clock because that’s when a lot of TV shows come on and if I’m really tired, I’ll get in bed around then and get a solid 9 hours of sleep.

16. What is your nickname and how did you get it? Some of my friends call me Ellsworth. One of my friends started calling me that a couple years ago because of a Rascal Flatts song, and it has kind of stuck. It’s catchy.

17. Where is your favorite place to volunteer/provide community service? Nursing homes, because I love old people.  They have the best stories.

18. What is one hidden talent that you possess? I can roll my stomach. It’s really difficult to explain, but my brother and I both have the talent of being able to do it. A lot of people think it’s really freaky when they see it.

19. If time machines were real, and you could choose just one - to travel forward or backward - which would you select and why? I would choose to travel backwards because I wouldn’t want my future to be ruined. I’m on a path towards my future and I want it to be a surprise.

20. If you could pick one person, dead or alive, and ask them just one question that they had to answer honestly, who would you pick and what would you ask? As cliché as it sounds, I think I would choose Jesus and ask Him how to love everyone, because I find that hard sometimes.
