St. Patrick's Product Commits To Spalding
Maysville's Douglas to play basketball for Golden Eagles
Chelsea Douglas, a 5-5 guard from St. Patrick High School in Maysville, Kentucky, has decided to attend Spalding University and join the Golden Eagle women’s basketball program.
Douglas has had an outstanding career at St. Patrick, where she was coached by her mother, Elaine Douglas.
A 3-year starter at St. Patrick., Douglas finished her career with 1,483 points, ranking her as the 4th leading scorer in school history. She was an All-Region selection each of the past 4 years, and was named to the All-A Region Team for 4 years as well.
She received St. Patrick’s Playmaker Award each of the past 3 seasons, and was named as All-Area Player-of-the-Year as a senior. Her team reached the championship game of the All-A Regional for 5 consecutive years, and won their first All-Regional championship during her junior season.
Douglas has also had a great deal of success on her AAU teams over the past several years, competing in State, Junior National and National Tournaments. Coach Just is looking forward to having Chelsea as a member of the Spalding basketball program.
“Chelsea is the type of player and young lady who we really want in our program,” he remarked. “She is an excellent student who has a passion for the game of basketball. Her primary position is point guard, but she shoots and scores well enough to also play the off-guard position. In addition to her ability to score, she is also an excellent passer. We are really excited that she has decided to join us at Spalding.”
Chelsea is the daughter of Elaine and Rick Douglas of Brooksville, Kentucky.
