Trinity, SHA Bowling Have Strong Showing

Sacred Heart finishes as runners up in fourth region tourney
Boys Bowling
Trinity’s Conor Minogue won the fourth region championship Monday night at Fern Valley Strike at Spare.
Minogue defeated Manual’s Kiefer Hillerich in the stepladder finals 224-214. In the previous rounds, Minogue took down Michael McCubbins from Male and Kyle Abell from Manual.
Heading into the stepladder, Minogue was in fourth and had to defeat the other three bowlers to advance to the title game.
All four bowlers move onto the state tournament. Trinity’s Joe Wuertz (5th) and St. Xavier’s Robbie (6th) Gronefield just missed the cut to advance to the stepladder tournament.
Girls Bowling
Male defeated Sacred Heart Academy Monday night 3-1 (151-133, 166-123, 120-132, 189-107) in the fourth region championship match.
Sacred Heart defeated Presentation in the quarterfinals 3-1. In the semifinals, the Valkyries nudged by Manual with a 3-2 victory (156-136, 170-176, 147-212, 136-135, 191-140).
Francesca Cordini, Stephanie Del Toro, Ivonne Gonzalez, Grace Metts, Pramila Nepal, Lisa Quiroga, Consuelo Santillan, Monica Santillan, Haley Schnell, Maria Serrano, and Emily Mitchell are all members of this year's team.
Despite the loss, the Valkyries will move on to play in the state tournament.
Assumption also participated in the regional tournament and got ousted by Manual 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
