Each week, will be getting to know a new student-athlete from the area by asking him/her a series of 20 questions that will provide insight into the thoughts and personalities of the boys and girls who are doing great things on and off the local courts, fields, tracks, and courses.

Name: Leah Stevens

Age: 16

Current school: Sacred Heart Academy

Current Sports playing: Swimming

Parish/grade school attended: Kentucky Country Day (KCD)

High school GPA (Optional): 4.0

Colleges considering or attending: University of Virginia, University of Texas, University of Georgia and many others.

Bio: I began competitive swimming when I was 6 years old. I achieved my first Olympic Trial time standard at 14 years of age in the 400m IM and the 400m free. I have competed in Osaka, Japan in a dual meet as a part of the NCSA All-American team. I competed in the 400 IM, 400 free, and 800 free at the 2012 Olympic Trials. I am currently a sophomore at Sacred Heart Academy.

1) What is your proudest athletic moment? My proudest athletic moment was when I placed 20th in the 800 free at the 2012 Olympic Trials this past summer.

2) What is your ideal meal/snack before a game? Whole wheat bagel with peanut butter, banana, and honey.

3) If you were trying out for American Idol, what would be your "go to" song? Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.

4) Which athlete do you look up to on a college/professional level? Why? Missy Franklin because she's always smiling and is not only awesome at what she does but she loves doing it too.

5) What is your favorite movie quote? "There is a fully dressed colonial woman on the airplane wing, churning butter!" -Kristen Wig from Bridesmaids.

6) How does your faith impact your approach to sports? My faith in God encourages me to pray before each race for the strength to preform my very best. My faith in God gives me confidence and courage because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

7) What is your favorite cartoon character? Goofy.

8) All time favorite board game? Scrabble because half of the time I just make up words.

9) Droid, iPhone, or Blackberry? Favorite app? iPhone and Pinterest.

10) What is your favorite local (non chain) restaurant? Mojitos.

11) What is your favorite reality TV show? The Bachelor.

12) What is your greatest fear? Failure.

13) What is your best quality/characteristic? I work hard in every aspect in my life and always give 110%. 

14) Favorite junk/comfort food? Carrot cake

15) What is your favorite hour of the day? Why? 6:00 pm because it's dinner time and I get to relax with my family

16) What is your nickname and how did you get it? My club coach, Mike Deboor, calls me Tippy Toe because he "claims" I walk on my toes

17) Where is your favorite place to volunteer/provide community service? I enjoy volunteering at the Special Olympics because it is so inspiring to watch these special athletes compete with such unconditional enthusiasm.

18) What is one hidden talent that you possess? I can move my ears.

19) If time machines were real, and you could choose just one - to travel forward or backward - which would you select and why? I would travel to the future because it would be interesting to see all of the new technology and how the world uses it.

20) If you could pick one person, dead or alive, and ask them just one question that they had to answer honestly, who would you pick and what would you ask? I would ask my grandmother what Heaven is like.
