The Bellarmine University Dance Team attended the NDA (National Dance Alliance) Dance Camp held at the University of Louisville July 31-Aug. 2, and the squad received a number of accolades including the school's first ever "gold" bid to nationals.

"Winning a gold bid is a major accomplishment in collegiate dance," said senior team captain Ashley Brown. "The fact that our team received this award represents the tremendous growth that has taken place in our program throughout its history. My freshman year we had never won anything but a bronze bid, and now, just four years later, we've improved to the level of a gold bid team."

Overall, the Bellarmine team took second place among the Division II schools competing while earning a "superior" rating on their performance.  Grand Valley State University took top honors in the DII competition with Southern Indiana and Ferris State taking third and fourth respectively.

Bellarmine's team also won the "Most Spirited Team" award, which is voted on by the competing dance teams. "There were 17 other teams at the camp, so this a huge honor," said Bellarmine Head Coach Janine Klutka.  "To have your peers slect you say a lot about the program and the positive reputation our team has built."

The Knights also competed in the "Game Day Run Off," which was won by Purdue.  Bellarmine's performance can be seen here.
