Several former LCSN athletes have been making headways at Division I colleges this past fall. Here’s five student-athletes that had an exceptional fall.

* Alyssa Cavanaugh (Assumption) – Western Kentucky University – Volleyball

Cavanaugh is one of the top volleyball players in Conference USA and is a favorite to become C-USA Player of the Year for the second straight season. The senior captain recorded a team high 408 kills during the regular season.

* Alexa Filley (Assumption) – Auburn University – Volleyball

Filley is one of the best setters in the Southeastern Conference and has dished out 957 assists in guiding the Tigers to a 14-9 regular season record.

* Paige Hammons (Sacred Heart) – University of Florida – Volleyball

Hammons has emerged as one of the top freshmen in the SEC delivering 94 kills and 16 assists in helping Florida go 22-1 in the regular season, a No. 1 ranking. Coincidentally, the Gators lone loss was to UK.

* Jacob Thomson (Holy Cross) – University of Kentucky – Cross Country

Thomson repeated as SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year and holds a 3.63 grade point average. He placed fifth at the SEC Championships, up two spots from a year ago to earn First Team All-SEC honors for the third year in a row.

* Charles Walker (St. Xavier) – University of Kentucky – Football

Walker is the flashiest player but he has made an impact on this year’s Kentucky football team. Walker has caught 12 passes for 134 yards and has returned five punts for 86 yards including a 52 yard return against Florida.
