The king has been dethroned.

St. Xavier won’t four-peat and Trinity won their first Class 3-A cross country state championship in eight years Saturday morning scoring 54 points, 58 points better than their rival who came in second.

The Shamrocks now own 19 team state titles in history, the second most in the state, only the Tigers have more with 23, and came into the meet having won the last three and six of the last seven.

Jack Baum led the way for Trinity with an eighth-place finish with a 16:24.80 time.

His teammates Bryce Dunn (ninth place), Nick Lewis (10th place), and Shane Williams (11th) were all two seconds or less behind him.

Ryan O’Dea (21st), Nick Stauble (25th), and Nick Michels (69th) also ran for the victorious Shamrocks.

Grady Shiflet was the Tigers top runner and clocked a 16:41.59 to come in 16th place.

Lincoln Williams (19th), Paul Buechler (23rd), Sergio Diaz (27th), Eoin Corbett (34th), Peter Schoenbachler (47th), and Will Perrone (51st) also ran for St. Xavier.
