Louisville native Ben Rhodes piloted the No. 41 Carolina Nut Company Ford to an eleventh-place finish in Saturday’s Camping World Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway. The performance is not what Rhodes was hoping for, but considering he had to start at the rear of the field, the day could have been much worse.

Rhodes crashed his primary truck in the final moments of practice on Friday. The damage was too severe to repair, and the team had to pull out its backup truck. Per NASCAR rules, when a team uses a backup truck, the driver must start the race from the rear. Rhodes ran as high as sixth but was never able to challenge for the race lead. Pocono is a track where starting near the front is critical to post a good finish. That meant Rhodes was at a significant disadvantage before the race even started.

The Holy Cross High School alum already secured a spot in the CWTS playoffs by winning at Kentucky Speedway earlier this month. Through 14 races, Rhodes has one win, two poles, five top 5s and seven top 10s. He also ranks third in the series in laps led.

Rhodes is back in action Saturday, August 11 at Michigan International Speedway. Race coverage begins at 1:00 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.
