Team finishes undefeated in just second year of program

from Mike Dyer, Cincinnati Enquirer:

Archbishop Moeller won the Ohio High School Rugby Championship last weekend as the Crusaders defeated Parma 19-7 at Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH.

Moeller, which has had rugby for two years, finished this spring with a 17-0 record.

During the state final, Moeller sophomore fly half Eric Lalley had two touchdowns which put the Crusaders up 14-0 at the end of the first half. In the second half, Joe Bracken scored off a scrum, which made the score 19-0.

“There were several hundred people who followed the team to Columbus to watch the rugby Crusaders capture the title,” Moeller AD Barry Borman said in a statement. “Like all the other athletic programs in our school, rugby is quickly laying a foundation of excellence that is contributing to the rich traditions of our school.”
