St. Benedict Dance Off To Rousing Start
Tennessee squads already earning awards

The St. Benedict High School dance teams are off to another great competitive dance season. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams recently returned from camp at the University of Alabama-Birmingham where they received numerous awards.
The varsity took first place for their home routine, won several spirit sticks, a super spirit stick, the team Full-Out award, a Superior Trophy and all team members received all blue ribbons for their individual evaluations.
Amanda Duckhon was named Drill Down Queen for the camp and Mandy Neat was runner-up. The varsity also had four girls chosen as All-American Dancers. They are, Allison Albonetti, Lexi Armstrong, Olivia Betterton and Ivy Anderson. The team is coached by Julie Henderson and captains are Allison Albonetti, Hannah Jenkins, Alexa Tooker, Mandy Neat and Ivy Anderson.
SBA’s junior varsity dance team also had a successful week at camp, bringing home first place for their home routine in the JV category, a Superior Trophy and numerous ribbons as well.
The JV had five dancers named All-American. They are Carrie Cantin, Mallory Maddox, Brianna Berg, Hannah Bingham and Brittany Burns. The JV team is coached by Lindsay Mullins and captains are Carrie Cantin, Grace Mitchell, Brianna Berg and Melissa Muns.
For their outstanding performances, both teams received bids to the UDA National Dance Team Championship to be held in Orlando, Fla. in February, 2011.
