SLU track and field sets seven school records at meet

Saint Louis established three more indoor track and field school records Saturday during the final day of the Gladstein Invitational. In all, the Billikens posted seven school records during the two-day event, which was held at Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of Indiana University.

On Saturday, SLU saw its school record fall in the men's 600-meter run, as Jordan Jennings broke his own school record with a time 1:22.17, good for second overall.

Tiffany Alexander turned in a school-record performance in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line third overall with a time of 25.52 to beat her own record.  The quartet of Alexander, Ashley Roche, Allison Walter at Kita Alvares broke the school record in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:53.74. That time was good for fourth overall.

Several of Saturday's performances were close to snapping SLU standards. Maddie O'Quinn finished second in the 600 meters with a time of 1:35.66, just off her own school record. Caitlin McCarthy placed third in that event with a time of 1:37.78. Sara Fraley went 2:17.14 over 800 meters, missing the school record by just over a second. Dahmar Smiles qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles and finished seventh overall with a time of 8.86.

The Billikens take a week off before the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational at the University of Nebraska, beginning Friday, Feb. 4.
