Rockhurst junior caps stellar season with conference honor

Rockhurst University junior Maureen Rielley is the 2011 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year.

Rielley, who attended Bishop Miege High School in Kansas, headlines the eight-member All-GLVC Team and is a GLVC All-East Division selection. Rielley has guided the Hawks to a 16-5 overall record and to the top seed from the West Division for the upcoming GLVC Women’s Tennis Tournament. Rockhurst posted a 5-0 league mark with Rielley going unblemished at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in conference play.

She is 18-3 overall in singles this season and has posted a 19-1 overall record in doubles play. She is 10-1 at No. 1 doubles and 9-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Rielley is joined on the All-GLVC Team by Bellarmine’s Rebecca Porter, Drury’s Pelagie Gamo and Ivana Marevic, Lewis’ Zsofia Kranczicki and Zsofia Lanstiak, Missouri-St. Louis’ Louisa Werner and Northern Kentucky’s Kristen Sunday. Rielley, Gamo, Marevic and Werner are also members of the 2011 GLVC All-West Division Team.

Joining the four on the team are Drury’s Abbey Sharpe, Quincy’s Allison Callahan and Rockhurst’s Rachel Lazenby.
