US Lacrosse Recognizes Rocks' Schroeder
Trinity coach earns national, state honor from committee
US Lacrosse's men's game leadership has announced its end of season man of the year, coach of the year and assistant coach of the year awards in more than 36 states and the District of Columbia.
Representing the state of Kentucky as Coach of the Year for 2011 is Trinity High School's Pete Schroeder.
Schroeder, who started the LAX program at Trinity in 2002, led the Shamrocks to a 15-1 record and runner-up finish in the Kentucky high school state tournament last season. Since his time at THS, Schroeder has led the program to four state titles.
Combined, the three US Lacrosse awards recognize 230 ambassadors of the game who have demonstrated significant contributions to the game in their area and beyond. The men's game committee, coaches subcommittee and recognition subcommittee oversee all three awards.
The coach and assistant coach of the year awards are intended to recognize the individuals' overall coaching performance and contribution, on and off the field. The man of the year award honors those individuals whose dedication, commitment, and support of the game and its ideals extend beyond his specific team.
A national man of the year will be announced at the 11th annual US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion, Jan. 13-15, 2012, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
